Thank you Hank, CCA, and hosts and crew for a really wonderful event! We had a TYPE I blast, despite the weather conditions. We are now very eager to dig into Borderlands.
Blue catfish has never been a personal favorite (especially since we have an abundance of stripers, crabs and oysters) but it's going in the rotation.
P.S. We were among those who high-tailed it to our cars after dinner, as the storm clouds blew up. Less about age, and more about experience. The setting around the pool and out on the grounds was glorious, but we've been through plenty of summer pop-up thunderstorms in these parts, and have a healthy fear of high winds, torrential rain, and lightening strikes near towering old trees and swimming pools.
I'm very sorry I missed it. Even though you had 3 events in the DMV area, I hope you do even more here. I believe you have a pretty good following in the mid Atlantic.
Great event! We had fun! Wonderful people, fast friends, a lovely setting, and delicious food! Thank you Hank and CCA. We enjoyed it and look forward to digging into the new recipes in Borderlands for more cooking and eating adventures at home 😊👍😋. Be safe, take good care, see you next time too! Cheers, Peter and Michele Tango
As always, well written. Thank you for sharing a window into your professional past; the hectic yet, intriguing world of a top tier restaurant kitchen.
Also, thank you for demonstrating that leadership has no boundaries; no titles needed, no career-specific job required. Leadership is an acquired skill; one not seen as much as it should in this world.
I’m loving these dispatches from the road /book tour looks into these events and I really appreciate the attitude toward leadership and teaching with grace (at least at first.
I'm hurt! Please send me an invitation to your next soiree. I'll do the dishes, take out the garbage, anything.... if I also get to sample the menu.... Great column. You clearly made me hungry.
Loved this story! Wish I’d been there, but really in a way I was. I learned about how a professional kitchen should run and also got some tips for my home kitchen. Thanks Hank!

“Heard, Chef!”
I like your definition of leadership. I wish more people subscribed to it!
