I love the show and have never worked in a kitchen. Like a film festival director(RIP Darryl McDonald) once said, its just a fucking movie. It is just that....just a fucking tv show, so I don't understand why people get so political about it. But I am a fan. So I do get a little defensive about it. Forks and Fishes are two of my favorite episodes. Forks because it takes a mundane task and asks you to really look at it. And Fishes which hit particularly hard, especially the speech at the end, where it sums up why many of us put up with the craziness of the holidays. Back to the kitchen, precision is why I love baking and what I enjoy when something turns out right. Cooking, which I feel is my next challenge, is something I am constantly learning. But with both baking and cooking, there is a sense of pride when I am cooking in a clean kitchen, my ingredients are sorted, and the outcome and rhythm hits the mark perfectly.

I bet all the time you were cleaning the kitchen which is admirable you were really thinking about following a good bird dog a pocketing a pheasant. Thanks for all the great thoughts on life ups and downs you provide us with.

Be prepared for far less story in Season 3. They tried another person's transformation but only got 15% of the way through.

Watching that show made me both miss the adrenaline of my past life and also realize how good it is for my kids and my health that it is a *past* life.

Lord this is great writing/insight. 1. Feeling rotten about my kitchen only getting deep cleaned every two weeks, and 2. what's the make of that range hood?

Feel better about your two weeks, man. My kitchen gets this kind of deep cleaned every two years. I think I used up all of my deep cleaning oomph in other people's kitchens.

A beautiful, cleanly-written piece. I'm framing and posting this on our kitchen wall.

We watched much of the first season. I tried to give it a fair shake, but it was a bit too gritty. Not saying that it wasn't accurate or well done, it just wasn't something that I found helpful or something wanted to spend time on.

Hmmmm…another good suggestion?!? The TV series, not cleaning.🤣 I love to cook but because I clean all day as my “job” it’s not something I want to do at home unless I’m greatly upset.

Did “All Fours” inspire you to clean like that too?😉 I noticed she used cleaning as a way to cope with her emotional turmoil.

Anyhoot…the book has been good. It’s been a while since I’ve read any fiction, especially that kind of fiction.🤣 Kinda hits home since I turned 50 yo this year. By the way, we have the same birthday…go Leo!

I look forward to binge watching The Bear this TV season after I finish rewatching Better Call Saul. I love me some Jimmy.❤️

Somebody needs to piss me off so I’ll deep clean my kitchen!😉🤣

Good one, Hank. (Season 3 was even tougher for me to watch, btw.)

Hank- when I first heard about “The Bear”, I was steered to it by friends who know I like to cook.

I like the show, not for the subject matter, but for the characters. Every character in the show is a really good person with deep flaws. They can’t help themselves from hurting each other despite their intent to do the right thing. It hits home on that level because we all have flaws and sometimes punish ourselves to harshly when we screw up instead of learning, apologizing and moving on.

Thanks for this Hank. 19 years in the restaurant biz, most fine dining. Still have some PTSD and I have a Love/Hate for The Bear. Season 2 and Ritchie’s Stage at Ever is the high point. Not a fan of Season 3. Hope you are well.
