Very nice tale of a fish and forage trip. Pleased to hear Alan caught that monster trout. But more importantly, to me, how did he cook it?!

What a delightful trip with this foraging supergroup! I've gotten to hang out with Sam at the Great Lakes Forager's Gathering and he really does have th funniest and most chaotic stories (and we're all looking forward to Alan as our keynote speaker next summer!), and I love the spirit of collaboration and camaraderie instead of competition. Sounds like a fantastic trip, and congrats on the fish!

gahhh I'm not crying you're crying

thanks for continually serving up the wholesome content we so desperately crave, Hank, without ever being fucking kitsch about it.

That had to be a blast. I've enjoyed every minute I've spent with Sam. I get to meet Alan, but I have to wait until next June to do it. I have a buddy like those two. We don't really compete-but we joke about it some times. George Hedgepeth is one hell of a fisherman, but as luck would have it, I generally do better. If I ever figure out why, I'll tell him.

I once had a Chinese grocery store owner tell me I was a "laughing Buddha." "I not say that because you fat, it because you generous." I was in buying a fan (ballroom dancers need them at times) for the third time in about two weeks. I had given the others away. You three are very generous people. You and Alan share extensively on your web sites and Sam can't help but teach. I'd be happy to fish with any one of you

Great article, love the Apostle Islands. Love it when people work together, instead of competing, a more rewarding experience for everyone. Alan Bergs foraging book is

a great book, I lucked into buying one a while back.

Would have loved to have been on that boat with the "Three Foragers (Stooges)".. That would have been a hoot! Really cool that you each bring your own thing to the table. Keep up the good reads.

It would have been the most amazing experience to have been fishing and foraging with you three. I am a big fan of you all, and have books by each! Thank you for a lovely post amid all of the ongoing daily news. ☺️❤️

That was a good one. What a power team!

I'm a bit confused as unless I'm losing my mind, the photo of Alan with a fish sure looks like a salmon, not a brown trout...

It's a brown trout. They are a lot less yellow in Lake Superior.

Cool story Hank - would have made a great podcast - or a time-lapse video - or even an Indie film! Still smiling...
